Mikki Sindhunata
Mikki watches bodies the way other directors watch faces.
Dutch, with Chinese Indonesian roots, she came to film through dance and art direction - and it shows.
Her work has a rare physical intelligence: the ability to make a shoulder drop, a glance hold, a hand hesitate, and suddenly the whole scene turns.
She is drawn to the tiny rules we live by without noticing. The choreography of a dinner table. The performance of being normal. Then she bends those rules just enough for something stranger, funnier or more emotional to slip through.
That instinct has become the foundation of her sharp, humorous work for brands including Heineken, McDonald’s, Ecco, Libresse and Vodafone - finding comedy not just in dialogue, but in timing, rhythm and posture.
Her films move with grace and a little danger. Movement is never decoration. It's character and subtext. Her camera does not simply capture action; it joins it.
Her debut short The Gift is currently travelling the international festival circuit.
